I have been so hesitant to create my own website, that I have been putting it off for quite a while. At first, I didn't think I had enough to sell to have my own website. Starting off, I would list my things on one of the many online marketplace sites, and I have been successful that way. However, there are so many people and listings on these types of sites, that things get swallowed up real easily.
Next, I moved on to craft fairs. Just small local ones to start. This really helped me a lot to realize not just what people like, but what I like to make and sell, as well. I not only grew my skill and abilities, but I also grew my business, as well. There is a wealth of knowledge out there, not just online, but with all the other small business/vendors out there. I value the time I spent with those few craft fairs a year that I attended.
Then, I discovered conventions. There was a local convention that I decided I was going to gear up to attend and have a vendor booth at. I spent over a year making things and learning more about attending conventions vs craft fairs, and I was hooked. My very first con was at a local library, just for one day. That one day, I had more than double the sales that I normally would do at a craft fair. I finally discovered my place!
This was just 1 year ago. Since then, I have attended quite a few different cons around the state, and have started looking to a few out of state, as well. Unfortunately, with the health crisis going on right now, my out-of-state cons have been postponed, for now. I already have about 10-12 cons planned for this year, and can't wait for things to pick back up.
Now, back to the website. I have a friend starting out with their own small business, as well, and she started with her own website, and may branch out to craft fairs later. After talking with her a little and seeing her website and how awesome it looked, I got to thinking of what it would take to setup my own. Once those gears start going in earnest in my brain, there is very little I can do to stop it, so I definitely had to look into it.
It was so easy to get started, that I had a bunch already setup for the site before I even knew it. By that time, I just kept going, and here we are! I don't know what kept holding me back for so long, but I am glad I have my own site, now. It was so much easier than I expected.
I plan to keep updating and adding stock to the store, so please check back often, as I have quite a bit left that hasn't been listed, yet. There should be more every day!
Thank you for stopping by!
